Living it up in Edgewood/Brookland.
The Baptisia is tucked away at the intersection of two of DC’s fastest growing Neighborhoods - Edgewood and Brookland. Sometimes nicknamed “Little Rome” for the dozens of institutions clustered around Catholic University, Brookland and has enjoyed significant revitalization in recent years including the development of the Monroe Street Market, Arts Walk and major residential developments. Headed south into Edgewood and towards booming Rhode Island Avenue, there are construction cranes everywhere and bog box shopping. Either way you go, it’s an easy 10- 12 min walk to the Metro - Brookland/CUA or Rhode Island Avenue stations. Ten bus lines serve the area: 80, G8, H1, H2, H3, H6, H8, H9 and R4.
Edgewood is steps from Metropolitan Branch Trail. The first phase of the re-develoment of the Rhode Island Shopping Center will include 490 multifamily units, a nine-screen Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and another 40,000 SF of retail, plus a public plaza, dog park and improvements to the adjacent Metropolitan Branch Trail. The full development is slated to include 1,650 units and 250,00 SF of retail.
