Meet the Developer: True Turtle

True Turtle is a sustainable real estate developer with a track record at the bleeding edge of green building technology and practices. The firm is responsible for a number of “firsts” in the field of green building in the District of Columbia.

  • Built Washington DC Metro area’s first LEED Platinum Multifamily - 4114 New New Hampshire, NW, 2011

  • Built Washington DC’s first Zero Net Energy gut rehab - 4310 4th St, NW, 2014

  1. Commitment to Sustainable building: They build only high performance, highly sustainable homes and buildings

  2. Educate:  They strive to teach others about how we build better buildings so that they can too.

  3. Act locally:  They focus on making the District of Columbia a stronger community and more sustainable place.

There is no other development firm in the DMV that marries a deep commitment to sustainable building with an equally deep knowledge of real estate. They work with investors and property owners and other developers to jointly develop properties sustainably for profit. With their expertise, in many cases it does not cost more to build “green” plus the ending value of the property is higher. They put that knowledge to work so that everyone profits more… including the earth.

We provide general sustainability consulting on buildings large and small. In particular, we provide technical analyses on how to take buildings to extreme levels of energy efficiency. We have both Certified Passive House Consultants and Certified Passive House Builders in house.

Development consulting

We assist property owners large and small with how to maximize the value of their assets. From buy or sell decisions to large scale strategic planning we help people make the right real estate decisions for their particular needs.

We work with select clients who wish to do extensive deep energy retrofit work or build new ultra sustainable homes or buildings. Please contact us if you wish to discuss your project.
